Why have we joined the Balkan Solar Roofs Campaign?

Creating an energy-efficient area that contributes to environmental protection and a better life for our citizens.

What are our ambitions in terms of energy and climate?

Priority goal for the period 2021-2030: Improve energy efficiency and sustainable use of renewable energy sources, enable protection and improvement of the environment. Realization of the aforementioned goal implies various qualitative interventions such as improvement of infrastructure, improvement of energy properties of buildings, modernization, planning, promotion, investment incentives and many others. The main directions of development action in the coming period, considering the current situation and previous experience, will be a planned and systematic approach to the further development of the energy management system, as well as the system for sustainable management of the environment, with the necessary coordinated action of all local actors. Energy efficiency, in addition to economic savings, plays a significant role in the valorization and optimal use of renewable energy sources, as exceptional comparative advantages of the city of Vranje. On the territory of the city of Vranje, including Vranjska Banja, there are extraordinary resources of geothermal water and solar energy.

What are our strengths to turn these ambitions into reality?

Starting in 2021, the city of Vranje is announcing public calls for installing solar panels on family homes. The City of Vranje, together with the Ministry of Mining and Energy - Directorate for Financing and Encouraging Energy Efficiency, for the second year in a row co-finances up to 50% of the total value of the investment for the installation of solar power plants with accompanying equipment on the family homes of future producers - buyers of electricity. This year, the City of Vranje and the relevant ministry allocated a total of RSD 4,436,328.00 for this project. In this way, citizens' awareness of solar energy increases, even though they had prejudices at the beginning. So this year, 12 family houses managed to install solar panels. The city of Vranje has the potential to continue with the installation of solar panels and contribute to increasing citizens' awareness of solar energy.
